A Proposed Historic Waterfront Warehouse Re-use
In February 2007, Ninth Avenue Terminal Partners made a proposal to the City of Oakland to re-use the historic Ninth Avenue Terminal as a Vintners' Hall, which included a working urban winery and tasting room, artisan food production, a restaurant, and a kayak/canoe shop. The proposal presented the opportunity to preserve a landmark building and create an exciting waterfront destination without City subsidy.

A series of reports were submitted: structural, economic, land use, etc.  However, as the end of 2010 approached, the City staff determined that it was still not possible to confirm the project was feasible.  At a City Council meeting in October 2010 to decide the fate of the proposal, staff stated that too much time had passed for the proposal to be accepted.
